Welcome to our August newsletter, where we dive into the vibrant world of Underrepresented in Tech! 🎉

In June and July, we celebrated the incredible voices and stories of those who are breaking barriers and making waves in the tech industry. 🌍✨ Get ready for some inspiring tales and tips on championing diversity and inclusion in our tech spaces and the World. June was a month to remember!

✨ Here’s one of my favorite things from the past two months.✨

a wall with a mural that is a rainbow with the words "love is love" and the phrase "we like you too." The wall is white subway tile. The mural is framed with a wood frame.

June is LGBTQ+ Pride Month, commemorating the Stonewall Riots of June 1969, which sparked the gay rights movement in the U.S. and globally. It’s a time to celebrate progress toward equality and recognize the ongoing challenges faced by the LGBTQ+ community.

This year we welcomed david wolfpaw as a guest on the podcast to talk about how to celebrate and support the LGBTQ+ community.

🔥 Samah’s Hot Take: Shake It Up: Celebrating Diversity, Traditions, and Respect in Style! 🔥

Hey, lovely Peeps!

Let’s talk about something super important and a bit fun—diversity, religious celebrations, and respecting each other’s holidays while planning our events. Imagine our event as a big, delicious feast where everyone brings their unique dish to the table. Embracing diversity is just like that! It brings a mix of flavors, ideas, and creativity, making everything more exciting and innovative. When we acknowledge and celebrate each other’s religious holidays, we’re not just ticking off a box but showing that we care about each other’s traditions and beliefs. This means no one feels left out or sitting at the wrong table. Instead, everyone feels respected and valued, making our gatherings more enjoyable and inclusive. Plus, who doesn’t love an excuse for more celebrations and tasty food?

Now, let’s sprinkle a bit of humor and heart into this—respecting each other doesn’t mean we must be exactly alike. It’s like a giant dance party where everyone brings unique moves. You might be doing the salsa, others doing the Dabke, while someone else is rocking the moonwalk, and that’s cool! Respecting each other’s holidays and traditions means we learn new dance steps and celebrate together in style. By planning our events with this in mind, we’re creating a space where everyone feels welcome and happy. So, let’s keep the spirit and respect flowing and make every event a grand celebration of our awesome, diverse community! 🎉🕺💃
